We welcome you to our newly developed R&R Blog!

Why a blog?

It is our hope that this blog will serve as an interactive hub of communications not only for those wanting to stay informed about the relief and reconstruction efforts being undertaken by the organization, but also for those wanting to actively participate in the exchange of ideas. The blog format lends itself to a participatory process of this nature by allowing you, the reader, the possibility of posting comments in response to updates/ highlights/ future plans etc. The blog format allows for a documenting style which is slightly less formal and thus, we believe, more engaging than what is typical of the average website.

With a hospital to be rebuilt and post disaster relief efforts to be implemented, the need for effective communication, that is, frequent quality updates, is crucial. This is what we intend to provide our readers. To ensure timley, effective updates, we will commit to posting new information on a weekly basis and make every attempt to utilize the technology available to us to include visual tools to keep you better connected; these include interactive timelines/maps, photographs and occational video footage. We hope you enjoy!

Human interest not forgotten

You will notice we have included a Hightlight of the Month section to our blog. This page will be devoted to a photograph/story that we feel particularly compelled to share/tell that month. In all of the planning and organizing we must not lose sight of the human impact of the tradgedy or ICC’s response. We felt it important to devote a space to the telling of these kinds of stories.

A short note on photography

Given that ICC’s purpose and vision has been centered around Haiti’s children and our new efforts seek to address the consequences of this catastrophe on children, we thought it fitting to use a selection of child photography as backdrop for each of the pages of this blog. Enjoy!

We invite you to think of us as your eyes and ears at Grace Children’s Hospital here in Haiti. We hope that through this blog experience, our journey becomes your journey!

This blog is a work in progress.  Please let us know if there is any way we might make the information provided more useful to you.
